An iconic totem of the 'space race' - in the shadow of the cold war designers were inspired by new materials, such as stretch fabrics and moulded plastics, and new vocabularies of form - popularised by the term 'cold war modern'. Designed in 1968 by the Hungarian émigré Peter Ghyczu who started his working career as chief designer for polyurethane factory 'Elastogran GmbH' in Lemförde, West Germany. The design incorporates features typical of the period: a Spage Age look , UFO-like form, bright coloured plastic laquer, portability and the informal lounging quality of the low seat. The chair is also known as the 'Senftenberg Egg' as the license to produce the chair was sold to VEB Synthesewerk Schwarzheide close to the city of Senftenberg. Production was halted in 1975 as the lacquering remained problematic. Made from fibreglass with a lacquered coating, with a tonus fabric. Designed to withstand all weather conditions as a versatile chair for indoors/outdoors.

Dimensions: H 1000 cm x W 74 cm x D 86 cm
