Screen print on paper, edition 1 of 10. Presented in natural hardwood frame. About the artist: A former graduate of the Royal College of Arts, London - Jake Cecil's work questions the antithesis of landscape; the Terra In-firma, and how groundless landscape features in our present day. This extends to the temporary space and structures which are erected in our landscapes such as hoarding boards and other visual representations that have been duplicated and mass produced in order to stand in as ‘nature’ pro tempore. He identifies with the distinguishing characteristics of Print as playing a pivotal role, everything seemingly acting as a duplicate of something other. The viewer is reminded of the original, but is happily infused with the fictional rendering, like an audience faced with a theatre set where props clearly act as illusions from one side, but also function as structures which inhabit the space in an alien and mercurial way.
