A NATURAL HUMAN TORSO

A NATURAL HUMAN TORSO

£0.00

A large natural wooden form from a fig tree or plane tree, probably from Libya during the 19th century, bleached to white and eaten by sea urchins as it slowly crossed the Libyan Sea to Crete. Upturned and put on a steel stand the figure becomes an impressive male torso. Poseidon being God of the sea it was inevitable that in the village on a mountain overlooking the Libyan Sea, our hero would become known as ‘POS’. He has stood  guard in the same Villa on Crete for over 30 years, until his British owners returned recently to the UK.

Dimensions (on stand): H 187cm x D 60cm x W 50cm
