Named after standing stones, typically dating from the European middle Bronze Age and found at archaeological sites solely as monoliths, or as part of a group of similar stones with complex ideological and religious significance. Our inspiration is further influenced by Barbara Hepworth’s later interpretations of these ancient abstract forms. Constructed of three handmade interlocking sections, shown here in hardwood featuring our ‘Dead Flat Black’ ebonised finish. Inspired by a narrow gorge called the ‘Siq’ which is a particular way to approach Petra from the East, the winding path ends dramatically at the foot of Al-Khazneh.
The base comprised of three hand thrown ceramic sculptures of grogged stoneware, shown here with circular low iron content glass top. This piece is a working collaboration between Toad and ceramic artist Pamsu.

Blurring the distinction between the real and the imagined, a side table inspired by the illusory work of Salvador Dalí. The form challenging the viewers' perceptions of reality in order to see beyond the surface. From certain angles the table seemingly gives the dynamic impression of leaning, of crouching, achieving an impossible state of balance. This possibility is actualised with a very stable and composed form of solid construction and graphically chic outline. Encourageable as a matching pair. Seen here in antique silver and patinated bronze finishes.

Contemporary editions - a pair of sculptural table lamps by artist John Born of Humble Matter, exclusively for Toad. These lamps are inspired by a collaboration between Giacometti and Jean Michel Frank for the Born family in Argentina circa 1939.

About the artist: John designs and makes remarkable sculptural ceramic vessels. Based in Brooklyn he works out of Greenwich House Pottery, the premier ceramic facility in NYC and the oldest non- profit ceramics studio in the country. He draws from a wide array of influences to produce distinct pieces within a cohesive body of work.
Artisan made hand-beaten brass dishes with charming tripod feet, available to order in a range of sizes - please enquire to find out more. Wonderfully chic and scooped with a clean organic shape, these are so useful on coffee, console and bedside tables. They come with an antique brass finish.

A bespoke hand made sculptural lamp carved out of stone, Illuminati embraces the use of translucent onyx with natural soft veining to produce an ambient sculpture that illuminates from within. The beauty of unconstrained natural stone with inclusions is revealed through ambient light encased in a simplified Ionic form. Natural stone has a life of its own, there is movement, variegation, depth and colour; when light permeates its translucency this allows these beautiful formations to be revealed. A bespoke product reacting to light in its own way - every Illuminati is totally unique.
